SECTION A.7   CAPTAIN JOHN M. LECATO LIBRARY

     The Captain John M. Le Cato Library is composed of books about transportation, trains, locomotives, museums, stations, etc. that were collected over a lifetime.  Many of these are books given to Captain Le Cato when he was a small child and  his interest in trains was a mere daydream; others were presented to him by the author and signed or inscribed to him; some are first edition signed copies; yet other books were given to him as presents and some are inscribed  with best wishes from family and friends.  Many of the books were purchased during his travels throughout the United States and abroad.  Many of the books contain not only clippings about the author and other pertinent news clippings but  some even contain the original sales ticket!

     There is also a wide variety of videos, time tables, stamps and  official railway guides included in this collection.  The entire collection awaits a home in a museum or library.   Books containing references to the Best Friend of Charleston are followed by an asterisk.
