ACL
RR Co. Tuxbury Lumber Company Track, shows track from Meeting St. to
end of North State Lbr. Co's track covered by deed from
Virginia-Carolina Chemical Co., obviously updated since SAL line was
built in
1915 as the Charleston Northern, then the Carolina & Western,
dispute over right of way in the Cheraw area created friction between
SAL and ACL, but there is a connection shown to the North State-Tuxbury
line off the Sal, SAL's only access to the Ashley River phosphate
plants was thru a connection allowed by Southern near Grove Street
(stipulation was made that SAL could not use ACL tracks), leading to
the very long branch line along the banks of the Ashley from near the
Chicora Plant up to the last plant to the north for SAL use. |
